On May 28th, Stacy is heading to Japan to meet Dr. Sotka for a month of research in the field. They will be collecting live seaweed samples for  phenotyping and to learn more about the genetics of these foreign samples.

While Dr. Sotka has some research supplies already with him, Stacy has been packing lots of things that will help her conduct research!

What is she bringing?

Stacy has created accordion plastic baggies to store samples in.
Some items include:
  • Kimwipes & plastic baggies (to store samples)
  • Silicates (to keep samples dry)
  • Wet suites
  • Sediment sieve
  • Camera
  • GPS
  • Comfy clothes
  • And a good book for the flight!

Silicates that will be used to keep samples dry. These are just like those little white packs of silica gel that come in shoes when you first buy them!
Stay tuned for more updates about their travels!
