a little cold doesn't stop us!

It might have been chilly out, but when the tide is low, it is time to go! Go out collecting, that is. Yesterday was a successful day in the field. Eric, Malia and Alicia stuck out the weather and made it back into the wetlab to finish processing their Gracilaria samples from the "removal plots".  After the algae is removed from the designated plots, it is rinsed, patted dry and weighed.  

Food for thought... can you think of why it might be important to rinse the algae before weighing?
