The winner from our Backyard NatureScope golf ball challenge was Ms. Jones’s class from Hanahan Middle! Way to go! ![]() It was a beautiful day to sample this past Monday. While out in the field, we spotted a live moon snail! Moon snails are predatory sea snails. They prey mostly on bivalves like clams, but they will also eat almost any other shelled mollusk they encounter, including other moon snails! Have you ever seen a shell on the beach with a perfect hole in? Great for making necklaces right? Believe it or not those holes are created by moon snails! Moon snails will drill holes through shells using its radula (kind of like a tongue) and secreting acids. Lab meetings are an important part of science life. They are a way for lab-mates to catch up and discuss current and future projects, as well as meet new prospective lab members.
Thanks East Cooper Montessori for all of your data submissions lately! Keep up the great work!
